Instructions to make Dal Makhani:
- Soak black urad dal and rajma overnight. Add enough water..
- Rinse the dal and with 3 cups of water cook it in a cooker. Also add salt to taste..
- Take 5 whistles on medium flame..
- Heat ghee in a pan. Saute bay leaf, followed by onions..
- Once the onions become brown add ginger-garlic paste..
- Then add tomatoes and cook for a few minutes..
- Add turmeric, coriander, cumin and chilli powder. Then put salt to taste..
- Cook till the water separates. dd cooked dal and mix it properly..
- Give the dal a good boil for 15 minutes. And add water as required to maintain the consistency..
- To give the dal a smooth texture, add fresh cream..
- You can also add garam masala (optional)..
